Blowing Past Protectors

October 15, 2009.  Tonight’s blog will be short, but I wanted to put out an idea that I’ll expand on tomorrow.

All of us have defenses inside, protectors who try to keep us safe.  I’ve talked quite a bit about mine.

What I haven’t maybe talked about enough is that they are there for a good reason.  They kept us safe in our families of origin.  They kept us together and sane in a often hurtful world.

And they deserve to be honored.  Always.

I even know this, but I have found myself just blowing right past them to get to the kids hiding behind them.  Which is very hurtful to the poor protectors.

I don’t want to do that anymore.  I would like to find a better way.
